WELCOME TO CHANGING LIGHT
My work at Changing Light is dedicated to empowering, healing, and assisting my clients toward their own enlightenment. My work helps people return to wholeness and balance in a world where those qualities are increasingly rare. Each person who moves back into balance and harmony helps us all, including the planet.
How I work
My approach uses traditional core shamanic techniques, intuitive counseling, and/or hypnotherapy to help my clients achieve their goals. I work with the client’s Higher Self and spirit guides in every session.
I have studied with Hank Wesselman and Jill Kuykendall, Michael and Sandra Harner at the Foundation for Shamanic Studies, Sandra Ingerman, Betsy Bergstrom, Marion Hakata, and Kami McBride, and am a graduate of HCH’s 200-hour hypnotherapy certification program (see Links page). I am a member of the Society for Shamanic Practitioners, the Foundation for Shamanic Studies, and the American Association of Professional Hypnotherapists.
Neither shamanic practitioners nor hypnotherapists are licensed or regulated by the State of California; therefore I am not licensed by the State of California as a healing arts practitioner. I am not a physician or surgeon and do not provide medical diagnosis or surgical services, so if you require such services, please consult a physician. If, however, you are seeking a shamanic or hypnotherapeutic resolution to a particular problem or issue, and you are willing to participate in your own healing or spiritual advancement, my services certainly may be for you.
The light changes with each turn of the spiral of life, even as the light changes with the turn of the wheel of seasons. Each turn and change brings new beauty and new challenges. Thus, as the spiral turns and the light changes, you have a chance to embrace change, wholeness and harmony in your life. Now is the perfect time to do this.
Come and explore Changing Light. Magic awaits.

Spirit Releasing or Clearing
Spirit releasing is the process of helping an entity out of a body where it does not belong. “Clearing” and “depossession” are other terms for the same process. Sharing your body with another entity, a “Suffering Being,” is very common. Suffering Beings are soul essences whose physical bodies have died and, for a variety of reasons, the soul essence refused or failed to successfully cross out of the physical world in the natural process.
If a Suffering Being enters while the client host is young, it may go completely unnoticed by the host, family or friends. At other times, the person or their friends and family may notice a significant, sudden, and unexplained change in behavior. A common symptom of hosting a Suffering Being is the unexplained, significant amplification of a negative emotion, such as anger, depression, fear, guilt, etc., beyond the normal for the given circumstances. Some people describe the feeling of “going away” when this takes place. Family or friends may say that it’s as if someone else is suddenly there for a period of time. Sometimes a person will exhibit sudden addictions or manifest the symptoms of illness without any ascertainable cause.
Suffering Beings can enter a host’s body through the natural defenses when there has been significant soul loss. A person may also be more vulnerable at particular times, such as if they do drugs or drink to the point of losing consciousness, are under general anesthesia, during a major illness, when they are very tired and depleted for weeks or longer, or when they are experiencing strong negative emotions such as rage or fear. Moreover, some types of people are particularly attractive to suffering beings – healers, psychics, mediums, and people with especially warm and bright heart lights. Children and adolescents are easy for Suffering Beings to enter.
I practice the heart-centered spirit releasing method developed and taught by Betsy Bergstrom. During the session, the client is awake, aware, and consulted at each step of the process. Rather than “casting out” the Suffering Being, leaving it in the physical world, I engage him or her in a dialogue, using the client’s voice and body. We work in a cooperative process that allows the Suffering Being to exit the client’s body easily and cross out of the physical world in a natural and peaceful manner. I work with the beings of light that assist all soul energy to cross over. The client participates in the dialogue and the exodus of the Suffering Being in a way that is very healing for the client.

The Unquiet Dead, by Dr. Edith Fiore
Soul retrieval is a shamanic tool that returns lost soul parts to their owner. Soul loss is a type of survival mechanism. It occurs when a life event or series of events becomes so painful for a person that in order to survive, a piece of that person’s soul energy splits off and leaves the person’s body. The result is a person with a lower energy state who can tolerate the pain and continue to live. Traditionally, soul loss was often linked to very traumatic events: being molested as a child, major surgery or illness, fighting in a war, or killing another person. Sadly, soul loss now seems almost commonplace in our modern society. Rather than living in harmony with nature, we live in a world of disharmony and chronic stress. Soul loss can occur at any age. The trigger is very individualized - one person may tolerate a traumatic event with no soul loss, while another person may experience significant soul loss. As soul loss occurs, the person’s personal power ebbs as some soul energy departs. Over time, a person’s personal power level can fall very low.
In a soul retrieval, I work in the traditional manner with the client and journey into non-ordinary reality to search for soul parts that the client has lost. I bring back only those parts that are willing to return to be of service for the client at that time. When soul parts return, they bring particular gifts that may have disappeared at the same time as the soul loss – perhaps the ability to trust others, to play, to love.

Sometimes we need advice and guidance beyond family and friends. Sometimes we need insight on a problem that isn’t resolving. We all have a direct connection to Spirit and our guides at all times, but sometimes we are too invested in a particular answer to be open to Spirit’s guidance or we have too much emotion invested in the process or our minds are too busy to be open to the “still, small voice” of Spirit to get a clear answer.
Whether you have no clarity or you are making a major life decision, shamanic counseling may help. In shamanic counseling, I do a shamanic journey to meet with your guides and Higher Self to ask them questions on your behalf. We can do this in person or from a distance, because shamans work outside of time and space to meet with guides.
Shamanic counseling is no substitute for psychological counseling, if that is what you need, but it can bring clarity and comfort when you need the advice and counsel of your guides, who know you and love you.
Hypnotherapy is a proven tool to help people access areas of their consciousness that are often otherwise obscure or hidden. Although hypnotherapy has many wonderful applications, it is a marvelous tool to assist people in their personal and spiritual growth.
I commonly use hypnotherapy to help a client uncover the roots of emotional problems or blocks, recover from early and past/other life traumas, and to ask their own Higher Self or a spirit guide for information or guidance.
In hypnotherapy, clients go into a trance state that allows their conscious mind to move out of the way and permit them to access their subconscious mind, Higher Self and spirit guides. As a certified hypnotherapist I facilitate the session in partnership with the client’s Higher Self or guides, assisting the client to access a trance state and help them obtain the answers they seek, all in a safe and secure environment.
I received my hypnotherapy certification in a 200-hour training program at HCH in Lafayette, California.
Past Life Regression
In a past/other* life regression session, I assist a client to explore particular issues that have their roots in one or more past lives. Past life regressions often help a client to see the life lessons that they are currently working through or the roots of particular relationship issues, providing insight and clarity into problems that otherwise seem unsolvable.
Past life regressions can be used to uncover the reason for recurring relationship problems or the inability to let go of a particular relationship. Often, simply discovering the type and ending of a relationship in another life allows a person to understand or release a difficult relationship in their current life. Regression therapy can also be used find the root of particular physical problems in the body that do not have a discernable organic cause and also to find the origin and resolution of unexplainable phobias.
Working with a client’s Higher Self, we explore past lives and their lessons and relationships that are important in the client’s current life. We begin with the past life that is most important to understanding the problem or issue before proceeding to the stage between lives where the client can talk with his or her guides to find what lessons are spanning from other lives into this one.

*Because all time is simultaneous, our other lives are neither past nor future, but occur at the same time. However, because this can be confusing to talk about when we experience time in such a linear fashion, I use the more common term of “past life regression.”
